Heat Pump Floors
A Heat Pump Floor heating system combines the economy of heat pump technology with the performance of under floor heating and optionally heat water heating plus conventional air flow heating/cooling.
How do Heat Pump Floors work?
- Water heated by a heat pump is pumped through pipes that are set into the concrete floor when a house is built. Each room can be designated as a zone and large living areas may have 2 or even 3 zones which feed warmth to that area.
- The hot water is pumped from the heating source into a control centre which decides where the water is needed. The control centre considers all of the information coming in from the thermostats and what has been programmed, and ensures that each zone receives the correct amount of heat.
- The control centre monitors in-flow and return flow water to ensure that the correct amount of heat gets delivered to each area and tells the heat source how much energy is required to maintain the desired temperature.
- You can adjust the flow to each zone and even turn a zone off completely if you are not using that area for example a spare bedroom.
Radiant under floor heating distributes heat evenly throughout a room for high levels of comfort. Because there's no air movement, there are no drafts around your feet or neck.
Warm and Cool have been in the central heating business for more than 20 years. In that time, we believe we have installed central heating in more homes in Otago / Southland than any other company.

Complete Air-conditioning?
SunFlow radiant systems can be combined with SlimFlow fancoil radiators to provide year round comfort - with the ability to heat or cool all from the one system. An air to water heat pump can supply a fancoil radiator with hot or cold water, to provide short term heating or cooling through summer when the main floor system may not be required.
Domestic Hot Water Heating
The same heat pump that powers your under floor heating can also be used to heat your domestic hot water. The high electrical efficiency results in at least the same annual savings comparable to a solar heating system - a 65-70% reduction, but with no unsightly roof mounted solar panels.
Heat Pumps are Ecological
South Island electricity is generated primarily from green hydro and wind with almost nil CO2 emissions. Heat pumps have no pollutants and employ non-ozone depleting, environmentally friendly R 410A gas.
